Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and the US-based Ohio State University (OSU) hosted a three-day international conference on Climate Change and Multi-Dimensional Sustainability in African Agriculture from 3rd-5th June, 2015.  The conference took place at the Hilux Hotel in Morogoro, Tanzania, and brought together 100 scientists and agribusiness experts from around the world.

The conference was inagurated by the SUA Vice Chancellor Professor Gerald Monela. It involved several presentations from various researchers and key note speakers. Researchers from around the globe shared their experiences on the impacts of climate change on agriculture, environment and biodiversity. Issues on soil fertility and water resource use, crop production, insect pests and diseases, forestry and natural resources as well as prospects for future were broadly covered.

The uniqueness about the conference was that many of the presented research findings derived from shared experiences from Universities in the United States of America and SUA as well as the Tanzanian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives. The combination of such research team unveiled several innovations as outcome from co-supervised research from Tanzanian Post graduate students trained in the USA and elsewhere across the globe
